Sahara Warriors beat Jindal Steel & Power to win Indian Master Polo 2012

The historic Jaipur Polo Grounds in New Delhi experienced an equestrian spectacle on Sunday. The grounds played perfect host to the 14 goal, Indian Masters Polo 2012 sponsored by Yes Bank. After exceptional performances in the  qualifying games, Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel & Power took on the Sahara Warriors who playing their first Polo tournament.

An exciting horse show preceded the finals of the Indian Polo Masters. In the first segment, a Six Bar Show Jumping, Major Rohit Dagar put up a tremendous performance by defeating Major Danny Swittens in the final round to clench victory.

The second segment of the horse show was the adrenal packed daredevil riding by the 61st Cavalry.

After all the action of the horse show, it was time for the main event of the evening to take center stage, the 5 chakkar final of the Indian Masters Polo 2012.

The Teams

The first chakkar saw the Sahara Warriors take the outright lead with some outstanding stick work by Sameer Suhag and Akhil Sirohi.

In the third chakkar, Simran Shergill gave the Jindal Steel & Power the lead for the first time after scoring a fantastic goal merely fifteen seconds within the previous goal scored by teammate Naveen Jindal.

Arjuna Award winner, Sameer Suhag gave the Warriors an outright lead after scoring the winning goal ten seconds before the final hooter.

After a nail biting final, Sahara Warriors beat Jindal Steel & Power, 10 goals to 9. The game was a display of some heroic sportsmanship by either sides which was enjoyed and appreciated by the supporters.
